Perched next to the Bracebridge falls, visitors to this historical mill turned intimate hideaway, can marvel at the power of the falls while enjoying locally sourced food and gourmet dishes carefully crafted by Chef David Friesen and his staff at Riverwalk Restaurant.

Windows on three sides overlook the falls and its adjoining outdoor patio is a pleasure to relax in the summer months. The ambiance and interior design have a distinctly Mediterranean feel allowing for intimate gatherings in the romantically lit dining room.

Riverwalk’s appealing menu and impeccable culinary execution show it’s authenticity which is reflected in the history of the mill and the impressive falls. With the menu changing seasonally, and sourcing out local ingredients, there’s always a reason to visit Riverwalk Restaurant no matter the time of year.

DAVID FRIESEN

Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia Chef David Friesen is at the forefront of the SAVOUR Muskoka movement to incorporate local ingredients in menu planning. While studying at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology his unique talents were quickly uncovered by the prestigious Relais & Châteaux organization where he completed his apprenticeship and worked for another six years. Friesen then moved to Toronto where his distinctive west coast imprint influenced several fine establishments including North 44, Terra Restaurant, Pusateri’s Fine Foods where he launched their fine dining catering division to great acclaim and the Liberty Entertainment Group.

In 1999 Friesen then moved north to Muskoka where as Executive Chef of The Complete Angler Restaurant followed by the Wildfire Grille at TABOO he remained at the forefront of a culinary fine dining revolution in the region Brimming with new ideas and an insatiable appetite for a culinary challenge Friesen purchased Riverwalk and Club 1 in 2001. Consistently recommended by WHERE Muskoka Magazine and with several Readers Choice Awards from the Bracebridge Examiners Friesen’s mark has been felt.

USING SEASONAL PRODUCT HAS ALWAYS BEEN FOREFRONT THROUGHOUT MY 20+ YEAR CAREER. IT’S GREAT TO BE ABLE TO GO STRAIGHT TO LOCAL FARMS AND SPEAK DIRECTLY WITH FARMERS. THEY’RE RESPONDING WITH OPEN ARMS AND ASKING CHEFS WHAT WE WANT THEM TO PRODUCE. THIS IS A WIN-WIN SITUATION.
